I wanted to make a post about all of the things that we use every day with five kids that help tremendously or that are just plain cool. I always want to know what products can stand the test of a lot of kids using them every day. I’ve also been trying to get away from all the cheap plastic. You can read all about constant plastic use from the moment you’re born and if you think you’d like to make small changes here and there to help with that, this list will be helpful for you!
First, bamboo. We’ve been using Homienly wheat straw cups, bamboo plates, and bowls for a while now. The little snack bowls are the perfect size, and everything feels like excellent quality. They don’t chip easily and are dishwasher-safe. The only time we had a bowl crack was after someone threw it aggressively outside on the pavement. (Yay for boys.)
My other favorite thing we’ve been having a blast with are these fun popsicle molds! I mean is there anything more fun than a summer popsicle shaped like a rocketship? We loved to make our orange creamsicles in these fun molds. They taste better or something, we’re convinced.
My absolute favorite item in the kitchen for kids is this set of helpful and safe cutting tools. My kids, especially my middle son love to help me bake, chop, and cook in the kitchen. These tools allow them to do those things by my side while still being safe. The wooden knife blade is my favorite. It’s shaped perfectly for tots to use pressure to chop vegetables, but my older kids use this one just as much.
The last item I’ll mention are these lunch baskets and paper. Sometimes days are overwhelming, and dishes get to be too much. Enter lunch baskets. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about skipping dishes and using paper. It’s fine. Sometimes we need these moments of reprieve, even if it is in the shape of fewer dishes. The clean-up is simple and fast and sometimes it’s the best solution to my overwhelmed lunch hour.
